Heading to Hollywood………It all started for Hlukani Maswanganyi also known as ZOOKIE last year during his Grade R year as he gained confidence through modelling training at a local modelling school and entering their modelling competitions. He participated in The Model Of The Year 2014 competition and fashion shows at the Northmead Mall where Zookie first felt the rush of excitement being on a stage in front of a live audience. After winning a photographic competition with hundreds of entrants nationwide ZOOKIE became known as the 4AKID face of October 2014. By winning this competition he was introduced to his agent Addi Lang who nurtured and further encouraged him to attend auditions for tv commercials and movies with her sister company called JustYou Model Management. Zookie received a call back for ETV as a child presenter and recently featured in a Dettol TV commercial.
Zookie was also one of the child models in the Forever Changed Campaign stills shoot and featured in the photographic exhibition at the event held at Foxwood Theatre in Houghton in June 2015 called War Stories which was in honour of cancer warriors which was hosted by Addi Lang who became a warrior in 2014.
As Zookie's confidence levels grew he attended an audition for an international movie and has just been scouted by legendary international talent scout Kim Myers at The International ARTS Talent Showcase which took place at Silver Star Casino on the 02nd and 3rd of October 2015. The showcase is owned by JustYou Model Management in Rivonia who are the South African representatives for Kim Myers. For over 23 years, Kim Myers has been scouting talent around the globe with one of her discoveries currently starring in the latest Robert Deniro. She has enabled talent to be booked on Broadway, in the cinema and on television, her models are not only walking the runways at NY Fashion Week, but are currently placed with agencies overseas from Japan to Italy, you can find her talent on shows like Disney's The Lion King, Suite Life, Hannah Montana, Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, Hallmark, Nickelodeon.
The future looks bright for this young rising star who will be heading to Orlando in July 2016 to showcase his talent at The Applause Rising Talent Showcase in front of industry giants and decision makers including managers and agents and we believe that he will make South Africa proud.
