This December public school holidays will be less than four weeks!  Be sure to make the most of your holidays by planning some “time-in” with families and friends. At Things to do with Kids we believe in spending quality time together where both the parents and kids will have fun! Here are five things to do with kids in Cape Town these summer holidays.

Go for a picnic at the Taalmonument, Paarl

This activity is great for the whole family, a fun outdoor picnic, but under the stars or the full moon. It is both an educational and budget-friendly activity! The Taalmonument offers guided tours at the monument on the history of the development of various languages in South Africa. As the sun sets, you can enjoy spectacular views over Paarl and Table Mountain on the other side. Families can bring their own picnic basket or pre-order a deliciously prepared basket at the Volksmond Coffee Shop.

Rates: The usual entry fee is applicable for picnics (R25 adults, R10 SA students, R5 children and free for children under 6 years).

Learn about the world under the sea at the Two Oceans Aquarium, Cape Town

If the sun is getting too warm, head indoors to the aquarium. Here both adults and kids will be amazed at all the ocean has to offer us. Explore the wonderful exhibits from sea horses to kelp forest and more exciting marine life. You can enjoy a unique ocean or penguin experience, get up close and personal with some of the aquarium residents or watch an educational puppet show. Children can have fun and learn a lot from the touch pool where they can feel and actually pick up some of the smaller plant and animal marine life.
